Welcome to Shick Shack BBQ

 

The name Shick Shack comes from the Native Americans that inhabited the property that family farm has owned since 1832. The Shick Shack tribe was the last of the Illinois Indians and were a peace-loving tribe. They left the area to avoid the Indian wars that moved into the area. Abraham Lincoln stayed on our property when he was a surveyor. Lincoln and Chief Shick Shack were friends. The family farm has always been called Shick Shack Farm.

I started smoking meats in 2010 when I got my first smoker. I really enjoy the process of smoking meat and thoroughly enjoy eating smoked meats!

I have retired from farming and wanted something to do to keep me busy. With smoking meat and the love I have for it, it is not really work, although there is a lot of work involved. 

I make all my own meat rubs, barbeque sauces and when you want a catered meal, I prefer that my sides to be homemade onsite.

To smoke brisket and the meat for pulled pork it can take from 12-18 hours depending on the size of the meat cuts. Pork Baby Back Ribs will take about 5-6 hours.
